CITY OF BOISE TO HOST SECOND OPEN HOUSE
ON PROPOSED BOISE STREETCAR SYSTEM

The City of Boise will host a second open house to give the public an opportunity to learn more
about the proposed phase one of the Boise Streetcar System and provide their views on the
project. The open house will be held as part of the December “First Thursday” event on
Thursday, December 3, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the storefront at 821 W. Idaho St.
(near 9th St.).

The public will be able to learn more about the history of the project, potential benefits of streetcar
systems, how a streetcar could function in Boise, possible funding sources and possible next steps.
Those attending the open house will be given an opportunity to provide their feedback via written
comment cards. Any residents unable to attend the open house can send their comments or
questions to boisestreetcar@cityofboise.org.

My note on the open houses- the 'open' houses are 100% pro-streetcar marketing events.  At the last one, a streetcar opponent was told he had to go outside and stay on the sidewalk to hand out flyers.  These open houses are tightly controlled and no public commentary is allowed other than on comment sheets.  You cannot speak publicly.  One thing that was found out at the last one - opponents are not welcome at these.  It is important that, if you are against the streetcar, that you show up and at least fill out one of the comment sheets.
